Product Review: Benefit Cosmetics Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow
I am a huge makeup junkie and such a kid in a candy store when I walk into ANY place selling makeup (or clothes, shoes, jewelry and bags for that matter, ha). That being said, I am a sucker for the perfect makeup product – and who isn’t? Long-lasting lipstick and smudge-proof eyeliner? Now that’s what I’m talking about.
A couple years ago I read raving reviews about Benefit Cosmetics Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow and because I love reading product reviews before I buy most products, I decided to give it a shot. Well, let me tell you, it does not disappoint! I’ll break it down for you.
It really is CREASELESS! Seriously, the name says it all. You know when you’ve been wearing eyeshadow all day and your eyelid crease gets that crusty product buildup? Gross, I know, but all you ladies know what I’m talking about. It’s annoying when your makeup doesn’t stay looking as perfect as it did earlier that morning. But this eye shadow does just that! I was wearing this shimmery lavender color called “Always a bridesmaid” at work, and a few colleagues complimented on how pretty the color was on me. They were definitely surprised when I told them I didn’t do any touch-ups – it had stayed put for 8 hours! PLUS, I didn’t have to use any eye shadow primer!
They come in a variety of colors. My absolute favorite color is this shimmery bronze pewter shade called “Birthday suit”. It’s such a great neutral and it goes with everything! I’ve worn this all types of ways – either as a sheer, subtle wash of color, a bit more dramatic with eyeliner, layered as a base for other colors (my usual go-to), or building layers of color for a nighttime look. Want a cool tip? Try using it wet! With this cream shadow, I normally don’t use a brush since I find it easier to blend with my finger, so I dab my finger in a tiny bit of water and what you get is this deeply saturated beautiful neutral color. Since you can build on layers of this awesome cream shadow, you really can use it for day or night! Start out with a subtle daytime look with a quick swipe, and then add a bit more color for a sexy, dramatic nighttime look! Check out their variety of colors here.
More bang for your buck. These cream shadows cost about $20, which may be a bit pricey for an eye shadow; however, since the product is quite saturated, you really don’t need to use a lot to make an impact – a little goes a long way! I’ve really maximized my pots of Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Eye Shadows to the max, until they’re completely empty!
You can buy them everywhere! Benefit’s products are available at Benefit stores, in Macy’s, Ulta, Sephora, and of course online, so don’t give me the excuse that you can’t find them anywhere!
Here is my one caveat though. I did find that the cream eye shadow dried up and became less creamy after a period of time. It could have been that I hadn’t used it in a while (getting lost in the back of my makeup drawer) but if you use the shadow frequently, you shouldn’t have that problem.
So, there you have it! Happy make-up shopping everyone!
